Dekeduan is a multifaceted farming operation. There need for this site was to reduce cost of electricity and provide stable electrical supply for one of their broiler chicken house operations. The eskom supply on this project showed a lot of voltage fluctuations as well as increasing outages.
The solution provided was to manufacture two Victron Hybrid systems.
- 180Kva Victron Hybrid system with 400Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 190 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 93.24Kwp
- 135Kva Victron Hybrid system with 400Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 156 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 80.16Kwp
These two systems were combined to work on grid but with Solar power and battery as priority. An existing 250Kva generator was incorporated and a custom-built changeover was designed and manufactured to facilitate two systems using the same generator.
The system was also programmed to disconnect from the grid when the grid became unstable and would reconnect only after a set time of continually tested stability.
Both systems were containerised for better access control and cooling of the systems.
