Unilec Power Systems > Projects > Duppal Boerdery

Duppal boerdery is a multifaceted farming operation.  There need was for three sites to reduce cost of electricity and provide stable electrical supply for three of their broiler chicken house operations. The eskom supply on this project had increasing outages and voltage stability was problematic. They also needed a 4th system for one of the owner’s homestead to facilitate cancelation of the the eskom supply point to that farm

The solution provided was to manufacture Three Victron Hybrid systems.

  1. 90Kva Victron Hybrid system with 200Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 102 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 55.59Kwp
  2. 90Kva Victron Hybrid system with 200Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 102 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 55.59Kwp
  3. 90Kva Victron Hybrid system with 200Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 102 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 55.59Kwp
  4. 10Kva Victron Hybrid system with 30Kwh Freedom Won Battery backup and 28 x 545w Canadian solar panels producing 15.26Kwp

The three 90kva systems were combined to work on grid but with Solar power and battery as priority.  Three existing 150KVA generators were incorporated.

The systems were also programmed to disconnect from the grid when the grid became unstable and would reconnect only after a set time of continually tested stability.

Three systems were containerised for better access control and cooling of the systems.
